When are the best times to book yacht charters?

High season is winter in Caribbean,summer in Mediterranean and will cost more than low season. Longer lead-in times are also required due to limited availability. Low season is ideal for lower budgets and can be 15-30% less expensive than high season.

What is the Base Charter Fee?

This is the hire cost of the yacht itself, and the only component of a charter booking that is commissionable. It includes all equipment in working order, as well as the cost of food and wages for the crew.

What is APA?

The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is a deposit required to cover the estimated expense amount of your charter including costs such as fuel, food and dockage fees. Typically, the APA accrues to approximately 25% to 30% of the base charter fee, though this does of course depend on your client’s tastes and requirements and could be far less or far greater than this estimation. The APA is paid directly by your client to the Captain and is non-commissionable.

Can I book an all-inclusive charter whereupon my client bears no extra costs?

ONEE Luxury Travel are currently negotiating a proposal for an all-inclusive yacht charter package, but in the meantime unless your chosen voyage is clearly stated as being a “fully all-inclusive yacht charter” at time of quote, all APA policies will apply to your enquiry and resultant booking.

What are the VAT charges on yacht charters?

VAT charges are variable dependant on country of embarkation/disembarkation, but they are prevalent in EU countries and Mediterranean destinations in particular. VAT amounts do vary and are changeable, so please check at time of enquiry as VAT is charged on top of the base charter fee and is non-commissionable.

What is a Delivery Fee?

Should your client choose a particular yacht/voyage that requires a vessel to be moved from its “home base” to a specific embarkation point, a Delivery Fee may be applicable. Fees vary depending on the time/distance required to re-position the vessel. If applicable, it will be advised at time of quote. This fee is non-commissionable.

Does my client need to “tip” the crew at the end of their voyage?

Offering gratuity is at your client’s discretion based on the service they have received. The amount to tip may vary depending on the destination of the charter. An American crew will expect a tip no less than 15% whereas a European crew will be happy with a tip between 5-10%.
